Best Time to Surf Morocco and Taghazout

Taghazout has surf throughout the year, but the best period depends on your level and the kind of waves you want. Autumn and winter usually bring the most consistent Atlantic swell, while spring and summer often offer smaller, friendlier conditions for beginners.

September to November

Early autumn is a strong time for travelers who want warm weather, fewer crowds than peak winter and improving swell consistency. It suits beginners, intermediates and mixed-level groups because coaches can choose from several nearby spots.

December to February

Winter is the main swell season around Taghazout. More powerful Atlantic swells can light up famous point breaks such as Anchor Point. Beginners can still surf, but lessons are moved to protected or smaller breaks when needed.

March to May

Spring often combines pleasant weather with moderate surf. It can be an excellent period for beginners and progressing surfers who want consistent practice without the biggest winter conditions.

June to August

Summer generally brings smaller waves around Taghazout. That can be useful for first-time surfers, although conditions vary day by day and coaches choose the safest, most suitable beach.

Best Time for Beginners

Beginners can learn year-round because MoroccanSurf selects the surf spot according to conditions. Spring, summer and early autumn often provide the easiest learning conditions, while winter can still work well on protected beaches.

Best Time for Experienced Surfers

For stronger, more consistent swell and the best chance of surfing Morocco’s famous point breaks, late autumn through winter is usually the prime period.
